The gin trend is growing stronger and a total of 2.5 million gins were sold at Systembolaget in 2020, an increase of a staggering 41% compared to 2019. An effect of the pandemic or an effect of gin being a trend that is growing hotter? Probably a combination of the two. For those who are passionate about Swedish craftsmanship (🙋🏼♀️), the reading is a bit bleak. None of our fine Swedish gins qualifies for the top 10 list, but it's the vast majority UK when we sum up the sales of gin 2020 at Systembolaget. However, Swedish gin is on a rapid rise & the share of Swedish gin of the total in 2020 almost doubled. The first challenger from Sweden is Hernö Gin which we find in 13th place with total sales of 54065.5 litres.
